oh, where do I begin? the bathroom absolutely reeked and I don’t understand how that wasn’t a priority. ended up feeling dirty because I was told to use the public bath instead. also, I had to pay extra for a private onsen with no washing area beforehand, how inconsiderate! I almost wrote a good review, but couldn't.

The traditional futon beds on tatami flooring felt cozy and added to the authentic experience. I truly enjoyed the private onsen, especially with the beautiful mountain views. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful, providing a complimentary ride to the snow monkey park at the perfect time to see the monkeys. The breakfast setting with the player piano created a delightful atmosphere, though the options were somewhat basic. The facilities were older, and the access to the upper floors without an elevator made carrying luggage a bit inconvenient. Still, the peacefulness and traditional charm made my stay memorable.

The warm hospitality made the stay special, and the owner provided complimentary transport to the snow monkey park, which was a wonderful experience. The outdoor onsen was perfect under the stars, but the limited dining options in the area on weekdays could be a concern.

With 20 family members, we had an incredible time at this ryokan! Mr Yumoto gave us such a warm welcome and really went above and beyond, even driving us to see the snow monkeys early, which was an unforgettable experience.
In my wife’s opinion, more luggage racks would help families easily manage bags.
